Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to process/ship an order?

We normally process orders within 24 hours. Shipping can take up to 8 days and in some cases longer depending on where you live in North America. At that point it is in the carriers hands. We have various shipping choices for you at checkout for your convenience.

Does the quantity I buy affect the shipping cost?

Yes, the quantity and weight of the order directly affects the cost to ship it. For example 2LP and 3LP or 4LP albums would cost more than sending a 12” single or one LP, and an order will cost more with each vinly added to the package. However we package as minimal as possible to reduce the overall shipping cost. We also have flat shipping rates so we eat some of that shipping cost.

What do you pack in the orders?

We commonly use bubble wrap, cardboard inserts when required, and masking tape to securely package an order. All orders get come with a DigNorth Records sticker. In most cases with vinyl that is not in shrink wrap plastic we change the inner sleeve from paper to plastic to prevent scratching and for long term care. Orders over a certain amount will get extras (i.e posters) when we have them but that is not gauranteed. Milestone orders will receive extras as well when they are available.

Do you sell unofficial pressings?

Yes, some people on the internet refer to them as "bootlegs", but a small fraction of the DigNorth Records inventory are unofficial pressings particularly the GXFR-related vinyl, you will see those labelled “Unofficial”. That is no secret and we are not trying to deceive any buyers. We also sell official pressings, limited edition pressings when we have them. You can find quite a few on our website now.

Why do you sell unofficial pressings?

Some artists print amazing albums in very limited quantities, only a few fans get the opportunity to get their hands on one, and not every fan has the luxury to drop $200, $300, or over $1000 on a resale of an official print. Some people like to throw around the term “Bootleg” but an unofficial pressing is an option for those who do not mind. And we purchase our unofficial pressings from the same supplier. They are perfectly fine and are typically less than half the price of the resale value of an official pressing. Just let it be known that DigNorth Records will never try to pass off unofficial pressings as official.

How often do you have new arrivals to your inventory?

This varies and there is no telling. We try to refresh inventory monthly or sooner, but the inventory that comes in depends on what we manage to sell. Where there is an opportunity to acquire inventory we will definitely do that.

Do you buy collections?

No

Do you sell used vinyl?

Yes absolutely! There is nothing wrong with used vinyl, and if you take care of it, it will go a long way. All of our used vinyl is inspected and listened to for skips, crackling, etc. We try to sell used vinyl from grades VG to NM, but nothing worse than VG. All used vinyl is
repackaged with plastic inner sleeves to prevent scratching. Any new vinyl not packaged in plastic that has a paper inner sleeve will be replaced with a plastic inner sleeve to prevent scratching and improve long term care of the vinyl.

Where do you buy your vinyl?

That's secret sauce bro! All I can reveal is that our sources of
inventory do not change and are trusted.

How do you price vinyl?

We use a combination or Discogs.com and Popsike.com to determine the best price. This of course depends on the grade of the vinyl.

Do you accept payments with PayPal?

No. Unfortunately we recently had to change this and no longer accept payments via PayPal.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, In Canada only and if the order is over $200.

Do you ship outside of Canada?

Yes, to the United States as well, but unfortunately no where else
internationally for now.

Will DigNorth Records expand to other genres?

This is defintely the plan but it will depend on how record sales go over the next few years.
